The New GMC Terrain
November 17, 2009
The 2010 GMC Terrain is a boldly styled five-passenger crossover SUV engineered with excellent fuel economy in mind.
The Terrain is powered by a pair of all-aluminum direct injection engines, one is a 2.4-liter four-cylinder with 182-hp, the other is a 3.0-liter V-6 with 264-hp. Both are mated to a six-speed automatic that helps to maximize efficiency. Buyers can choose between either a front-wheel or all-wheel drive system, depending on which meets their needs.
Standard safety features include four-wheel anti-lock brakes with electronic stability and traction control, six airbags, OnStar, tire pressure monitoring and a security system. Available technology features include a rearview camera, power liftgate, Bluetooth phone capability, remote vehicle start, seven-inch touch screen navigation with 40-gigabyte hard drive with USB connectivity, MP3 playback and XM satellite radio.
The Terrain is all-new for 2010 and is built alongside its sister the Chevrolet Equinox in the joint GM/Suzuki CAMI assembly plant.
The New 2010 Cadillac CTS-V
October 27, 2009
The 2010 Cadillac CTS-V is in a word “Stunning”
A 556-horsepower, 6.2-liter supercharged V8 gives the new CTS-V a 0-60 time of 4 seconds which is superior to any luxury car in it class.
What seals the deal, however, is the bang for the buck this compact Caddy delivers. While we’re just as fond of the comparably priced BMW M3 and Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG, it’s hard to argue with the CTS-V’s combination of world-class performance and passenger space, which makes it competitive with far pricier rivals like the M5 and Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG.
GM Dealership Closings
October 22, 2009
General Motors Corp. plans to close approximately 40 percent of its dealerships nationwide as part of its restructuring effort. The automaker mailed out notices to about 1,100 underperforming dealerships on May 14, notifying them that their franchise agreements will not be renewed when they expire in October, 2010. GM also is eliminating its Hummer, Pontiac, Saab and Saturn divisions. The automaker has said it would like to sell Hummer and Saturn should potential buyers emerge. Pontiac will be cut outright and Saab already is separating from GM in bankruptcy proceedings in Sweden. The automaker asked its dealerships to begin winding down their businesses to clear out their inventory before their franchise agreements expire. That allows the dealers to sell the vehicles — and get a return on their investment — rather than returning their inventories to GM. The automaker has said it will not release the names of any dealerships it sent letters to, and each independently-owned dealership will decide if and when it will release that information. This map shows Michigan GM dealerships, along with the various makes they sell. Green markers indicate dealerships which will remain open and red markers indicate dealerships which GM has announced they will close. The map will be updated as dealers announce their plans to close. The orange markers on the map indicate dealerships which will lose at least one brand. Most dealerships sell more than one make, so the loss of a single nameplate doesn’t necessarily mean the dealership will close. Others, such as Saturn, generally operate independently and the loss of a nameplate likely would result in the dealership’s closure unless the owner could negotiate a deal to partner with another automaker.
